For those seeking adventure, consider a day trip to Akaroa (190 km away) or the dramatic landscapes of Arthur's Pass National Park (320 km). While we regret that the cruise schedules do not align with the TranzAlpine Train departure, we can still offer unforgettable scenic drives and hikes. Arthur's Pass is known for its breathtaking scenery and receives over 3 meters of rain annually, ensuring lush and dramatic views year-round.

Waipara Wine Region is just an hour north of Lyttelton. Nestled in a limestone basin, this warm, fertile area produces some of the region's finest wines, making it an excellent stop for wine lovers.

Your tour can be completely customised to your interests. Whether it's horse riding, jet boating, golf, tennis, or simply strolling through Christchurch's Botanical Gardens, we can craft an itinerary that suits you. You might even enjoy a cozy barbecue or lunch in my organic garden, where I use ingredients harvested fresh from the glasshouse. Or, opt for a visit to Riverside Market for a more urban dining experience in the heart of the city.

My personal recommendation is a scenic drive to Sumner Beach, one of Christchurch's prettiest coastal suburbs. From there, explore Scarborough Hill or hike up to the Gondola for panoramic views of the city, harbour, and mountains. We'll also pass through Mona Vale, a beautiful park where you can relax by the Avon River or stop for tea. Alternatively, enjoy a scenic drive through the Port Hills, with breathtaking views of the city and Southern Alps.

For a touch of culture, visit the Christchurch Arts Centre, home to one of the world's largest restoration projects, and learn about Lord Rutherford, a prominent nuclear physicist. You'll also see the iconic Christchurch Cathedral, a symbol of the city's resilience following the 2011 earthquake, alongside the innovative Cardboard Cathedral.

I'll personally pick you up from Lyttelton and drop you off at any location in Christchurch, ensuring a seamless experience from start to finish.
