Pick up from your accommodation and drive to the Rubicon Valley Farm. It is a distance of about 80 kms Time 1 hour

Enjoy the changing view as we cross over the Canterbury Plains  towards the Southern Alps. Upon arrival at the farm we can firstly feed the sheep and goats with nuts which provides a great chance to take some photos.Next we will see the sheep dog demonstration where Chris will show you the amazing ability of the dogs to control and move the sheep around.Next you can try  your hand at shedding sheep which is where you separate the sheep as they are driven along the race towards you by the sheep dog. Lastly there is a great chance to take a photo with the Sheepdog on a lovely rock. If Tess is playful she may invite you for a game of  volleyball with her.

Next meet the Alpacas and have your photo taken with them and the beautiful blue waters of the Waimakariri River in the background. as a back drop.

Lastly see a sheep shearing demonstration and have the opportunity to try yourself at shearing  with help from Chris.   Conclude the tour with afternoon tea of homemade scones and cookie s made by Del in the woolshed.

My basic farm tour takes you to a typical New Zealand Sheep farm where you can see both a Sheep Dog and a Sheep Shearing demonstration as well as morning or afternoon tea.The farm is set in the foothills of the Southern Alps on the banks of the Waimakriri River Gorge,so the the farm offers you some great photo opportunities, both scenery,feeding the sheep, shedding sheep,Al Pacas and also a chance to try a bit of shearing yourself. Allow 4 hours.

I myself come from a farming background and so have quite an extensive knowledge and experience in farming both here in New Zealand and Scotland.
